Judging in DGA
Well, as you might have read in the rules there is no limit anymore in how many entries there will be in a round. This makes it harder for me to judge, as I have to keep up in school as well. So, I've decided to let one or two others judge alongside me.
1st, you don't have to be a permanent judge, you're hired for one round and if you want to do another just tell me.
2nd, of course you can't nominate any of your own videos when you're supposed to judge them. But for the BotB-categories Most Active Vidder and Most Awards Vidder you'll get a little bonus, so that you won't drop just because of that you didn't compete in a round.
If you want to judge with me, tell me just after the previous round is closed. So if you want to judge in April 2008, tell me after the 9th March.
Judging in DGA looks a bit like this
[Step 1]
The nominees are coming in, to save time the judges often begin to judge the videos separately before the round's closed. During the separate judging every video gets a point between 1-5 in each category (not the categories that it doesn't compete in, of course), where 1 means "not good" and 5 means "fantastic" or "really good".
[Step 2]
The points from all the judges are gathered by the Main Judge (the Wolf) and she checks if there are any troubles with giving out the awards to the right videos in the categories. If there isn't, Step 3 is passed.
[Step 3]
If there aren't any problems with the points, this isn't needed. This step is when the judges discuss which one that should get an award if the points are likewise between two vids.
[Step 4]
The winners are written down. Then the judges choose the 5 winners of an Honorable and their own Judge's Choice.
